Terms of use

Simple rules for a lightweight group-decision tool.

These terms explain the practical conditions for using PickTogether. The service is designed for ordinary, low-risk group choices. By using it, you agree to use it lawfully, avoid harmful or sensitive uses, protect any creator key you receive, and take responsibility for the question and choices you publish through a shared poll link.

1. Intended use

PickTogether is for casual decisions such as choosing a meal, activity, movie, destination, meeting time, gift, or another everyday preference where the listed options are already acceptable to the group. It is not an official election system, identity-verification service, emergency service, confidential data room, medical or financial decision system, or legally binding voting platform.

2. Your poll content

You are responsible for the question and choices you enter. Do not publish illegal material, threats, harassment, private accusations, confidential information, passwords, payment information, government identifiers, medical records, precise live location, or other content that could expose or harm another person. Polls must also follow the Safety & Content Guidelines.

3. Shared links are access, not secrecy

Anyone who receives a real poll link may be able to view the poll. Real poll pages are marked noindex and nofollow to reduce search exposure, but those directives do not authenticate viewers and cannot stop a recipient from forwarding a link. Do not place information in a poll that requires confidential access controls.

4. Creator keys are control credentials

When a poll supports creator controls, PickTogether gives the creator a random owner key and stores only a one-way hash in the application database. The raw key belongs in the creator's browser or an explicit backup chosen by the creator. Do not publish, forward, paste into public messages, or include that key in a shared URL. Losing the key can mean losing creator control of that poll.

5. Voting and results

PickTogether uses a locally stored anonymous browser identifier to support one active vote per browser for a poll. That is a convenience and integrity control for casual use; it is not proof of a person's identity and does not guarantee one-person-one-vote across devices, browsers, cleared storage, or coordinated participants. Results should be interpreted as the responses recorded by the service, not as a verified population survey.

6. No professional or high-stakes reliance

Do not rely on PickTogether to make or authorize medical treatment, financial transactions, lending, hiring, firing, compensation, discipline, safeguarding, legal approvals, official governance, emergency action, or another decision that requires professional judgment, verified authority, due process, identity checks, or a formal audit trail.

7. Service availability and changes

PickTogether is provided as an online service and may change as reliability, security, privacy, accessibility, or product requirements evolve. Features may be adjusted, temporarily unavailable, or discontinued. Do not use a poll as the only permanent record of information you must retain. A creator should preserve any outcome that matters outside the service in an appropriate system of record.

8. Misuse and protection of the service

Do not attempt to bypass rate limits, interfere with other polls, automate abusive traffic, probe for private credentials, exploit vulnerabilities, disrupt the service, or use PickTogether to facilitate prohibited content. Technical protections may reject or limit requests that appear abusive or unsafe. Security research should never involve exposing another person's poll content or credentials.

9. Privacy

The Privacy page describes the data PickTogether intentionally stores for polls and browser voting, what it does not intentionally store in the application database, and the role of infrastructure providers in processing network metadata. These terms should be read together with that privacy explanation.

10. Updates to these terms

These terms may be revised when the product or its policies materially change. The public page will remain the current version for users of the service. Changes do not remove rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
